I was reading a news story called When craigslist attacks and I am amazed how people think they can get something for nothing. The news story goes on to tell about a scam that two individuals posted a “come get all my things” ad on craigslist. This in turn allows them to claim a burglary in their home and get the insurance money. Of course it didnt work, since there is an electronic paper trail when you post anything on the site. The scary thing was that 30 people thought that this was okay and went to their home and was taking things like it was no big deal.
How about this one, internet dating service from where you find a nice man from overseas. He is cute and writes you great emails. He wants to be with you, but he is in a pinch to get to the usa and he was not aware that he would have to have a US bank account for his funds to be transferred into. So he needs you to pay his airline ticket and pay you back when he gets there. Hundreds of people fall for that yearly.
Here is my favorite; African Prince died and left millions to you, please send me your social secruity number, your bank account number, so we can wire the money to your bank account. I think I get that email at least 3 times a week.
Listen people and this has been and always will be, If it sounds to good to be true, it probably isnt. So stop thinking you can get something for nothing.
