A Sexual Scandal

I was reading my co-host’s blog BrokenPole’s Blog
and I was reminded of something that happen in the doghouse when we was away from home.
Having teenagers, we always have other teenagers coming in and out of the house. There was a couple of girls that liked my son and would visit often and use sexual undertones to entice him to being a boyfriend, now mind you this girl is 14 at the time. I would tell her all the time, that talking like that is going to get you in trouble. Well one of his friends caught on to this and flirted back and a sexual conversation took place. The young lady then proceeded to enter our bedroom and laid on the bed and the guy followed. My son said they was watching a movie then relized that they disappeared and got up and walked to the bedroom and as he got to the door way they came out of it in a laughing mood (mind you this was only a couple minutes). So my son kinda blew it off and told them to stay out of there my parents dont want people in there. Well anyways some how she got on a topic of old boyfriends and the guy was pissed and called her a slut. Well, she got mad and left.
So it seemed like this was the end of the story, but no. She felt the need to get back at him. She was a friend of his old girlfriend and they decided to claim she was being raped IN MY BEDROOM. The police came arrested the guy, sat in jail most of the time till his trial. This being a small town, everyone knew what he did and picked on him to the point of violence. When it came time for the trial, it leaked out that it all was a revenge thing. So when it was time for her to go on the stand to speak, under oath to tell the truth, she decided that he learned his lesson and dropped the charge. But under Michigan law the 18 year old still was charged under a lessor charge of indecent exposure.
Now I am not claiming that what he done was right at all and thought he was smart enough not to do things like that even in my home (since I was at work and Shelly was at the hospital all day with her mother). But this is what makes this a tragedy, he has never been the same because of the persecution he went through even to the point of suicide attempts and almost provailed but was stopped by the police when he tried to jump off the expressway bridge.
Man what a mess to deal with. A 18 year old even thinking about the young girl in a sexual manner. The girl talking and acting like she is an adult with no morals. Now I havent seen these two in a couple years, but the boy is in jail for the suicide attempt because it broke his probation. As for the girl she moved and has since then all but forgotten the incident.
Now my thought is this; Where did they learn this stuff? Watching tv? Peers? or was they raised that these kind of actions are ok? I dont have the answers, but I have my doubts that we as a society can teach our kids to be individuals and hold strong to our morals and convictions. It has been common practice to attack and demean other people to make us feel better about ourselves. Can we, as individuals, as human beings, stop this cycle of destroying each others humanity?

  1. OMG Baddog.

This goes on way to much. Most recently was that case at Duke with the lacrosse players. The young mens lives are ruined and what has happened to the young lady…nothing.

It is high time that little loop hole is closed as well.

  2. it is just sad that some girls/women use this as a form to get revenge on a man. they make it so that when someone is telling the truth, that they are questioned and made to look like they are lying. Shame on her for doing that and I hope that boy can move past this……
